The biodiversity of a unique forest

Part of the territory of Bettona is listed as a SCI, Site of Community Importance, included in the Natura 2000 network, protected areas of considerable importance at the European level for the conservation of biodiversity.

The SCI is located between Gualdo Cattaneo and Bettona and remains constantly above cultivated areas. Many are the ditches and streams that run through both slopes. The presence of very special and rare plant and animal species make the forest extremely attractive, with dense forest and lush undergrowth.
